Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC)
Susan Powers, Chairperson
The Information Technology Advisory Committee is made up of
faculty and staff to provide consultation and advice to the
Associate Vice-President for Information Technology and Chief
Information Officer. ITAC examines global as well as local
information technology issues, providing input and reviewing
ISU’s strategic plans for information technology, recommending
priorities for information technology initiatives, and generally
facilitating the flow of information about information technology.
Additionally, the committee reviews the proposals and
recommendations submitted by the Office of Information Technology
(OIT) Core Management Team. Through these efforts, the Information
Technology Advisory Committee ensures that information technology
initiatives meet the needs of the ISU community.
Student Information Technology Advisory Committee (SITAC)
In 2002, a subcommittee of the Information Technology Advisory Committee
(ITAC) was created to ensure there was student input in the decisions
affecting information technology direction at ISU. This subcommittee,
called Student ITAC (SITAC) is comprised of eight students, seven
appointed by the Deans of the respective Colleges and one ex-officio
member appointed by the SGA. The SGA representative will serve as the
ex-officio chairperson of SITAC. The SITAC chairperson will also be
an ex-officio member of ITAC. An Office of Information Technology staff
member will attend all SITAC meetings and serve as a resource for the
members.
SITAC will provide advice and opinions regarding information technology
decisions that affect ISU students. The dean-appointed members will serve
a one year term and should be users of information technology willing to
serve on a committee that will meet once a month during the academic year.
It is not a requirement for the student to be a technology expert, but
the student should be an active technology user on campus. Committee notes
will be taken at each meeting and posted to a public Web site.
Institutional Computing Steering
Committee (ICSC)
Sharon Gick, Chairperson
The Institutional Computing Steering Committee membership is composed of one or
more members from each of the major offices supporting or using administrative
systems. The
purposes of the Institutional Computing Steering Committee are: to provide
guidance for possible recommendations to higher administration relating
to the direction of Institutional Computing at ISU; to seek group consensus
for matters relating to Institutional Computing that affect multiple offices;
to discuss and make recommendations to higher administration for priorities
relating to Institutional Computing which affect multiple offices; and to be
used as a vehicle to distribute information to the ISU community concerning
matters relating to Institutional Computing.
The committee chair is an elected position.
The agenda for each meeting is distributed in advance and members may request
items be added to the agenda or to have agenda items reprioritized for discussion.
Action items that are agreed upon are documented back to the committee.
Instructional Technology Facilities Committee (ITFC)
The Instructional Technology Facilities Committee (ITFC), a subcommittee of ITAC,
reviews proposals and recommendations submitted by OIT in the area of instructional
technology facilities (Technology-Ready Classrooms, Distance Education Classrooms,
and Public and Discipline Specific Computer Labs). This committee reviews proposals
to establish or modify academic IT standards and policies related to the
instructional technology facilities and provides recommendations concerning approval
and changes. The recommendations of this committee are submitted to the CIO for
review and final approval.
