The President’s Charge
The President's commission for the enhancement of Diversity Resources is made up of members who advocate a progressive, comprehensive approach to quality diversity programs, policies, and education; who facilitate the vision of an optimal academic environment and appropriate relationships among all constituents; model high ethical and professional standards; promote usage of contemporary knowledge of all cultures; support non-discriminatory practices; and nurture a unprecedented effort to retain all students as lifetime sycamores.
As you are aware, diversity is extremely important to the future of Indiana State University. As we move forward into a more global economy, diversity issues have profound effects on our efforts for accreditation, fusion of the campus community, student retention, and student work and personal success.
Respectfully,
Lloyd Benjamin III.

Brief History
The Commission has always included a diverse representation of the University’s administrators, faculty, support staff, and students. As the 10th President of Indiana State University, Dr. Lloyd W. Benjamin, III ordered strategic reconstruction of the Commission in 2000 to further advance the University plan for the 21st century. With the Commission now known as the President’s Commission for the Enhancement of Diversity Resources, ISU seeks to continue development of cultural awareness among students, faculty, and staff through positive approaches to diversity into the University’s curriculum, research, campus life, and the understanding of global economics, politics, environments, and cultures. The commission’s purpose is two-fold:
- To ensure that the University community demonstrates appreciation and understandinf of cultural and ethnic diversity in their own country.
