Painting - Undergraduate
Painting at Indiana State University is a program that offers exciting opportunities for students of every aesthetic persuasion. Painting students will develop a comprehensive understanding of their craft, including a mastery of traditional techniques. Experimental approaches to image-making and mixed-media painting explorations are encouraged. The painting area in Fairbanks Hall includes 4,860 square feet of well equipped studio space. A power tool room, furnished with electrical and hand tools, enables students to construct canvas stretches and to build multi-faceted painted objects. The proximity of the printmaking and photography studios allows students to explore the interrelationship of painting with these media. Additionally, students who wish to combine their study of painting with any of the other disciplines offered by the Department of Art are encouraged to do so.
