Department of African and African American Studies
Degree Programs
The Department of African and African American Studies offers an undergraduate major and minor. The undergraduate major is 39 credit hours, while the minor is 24 credit hours. Both the major and major require an 18 credit core area, which provides students a grounding in intellectual and historical trends in African and African American culture, as well as the opportunity to conduct advanced research in the field. Students also have a wide array of elective courses from which to choose, dealing with politics, history, music, literature, and so forth. Complete information on the undergraduate program can be found in the ISU Undergradaute Catalog (note: this is a PDF file).
