TITLE/RANK: Assistant Professor-Fulltime Tenure Track Position, African and African American Studies.

DEPARTMENT: Department of African and African American Studies.

DESCRIPTION: The Department of African and African American Studies, Indiana State University, invites applicants for a position of assistant professor, tenure track, in African and African American Studies, with research and teaching specialty in ethnomusicology, beginning fall, 2008. Appointee will teach foundation survey courses and disciplinary methods seminars in African and African American Studies, broadly defined, from an interdisciplinary perspective. Position open to scholar-teachers specializing in jazz, gospel, and spirituals, blues and rock studies; expertise in ethnomusicology methods essential. Candidates should be prepared to teach a broad range of courses in African or African American music, as well as the department's core courses.
The African and African American Studies curriculum is an interdisciplinary program that draws on scholars from many other departments, including music, history, English, political
