Scholarships

For Entering Transfer Students

Listed below are scholarships for entering transfer students who will be studying 12 or more credits a semester. These scholarships are only available for students who begin their study in the fall term.

All scholarships are available for on-campus students. Selected scholarships are available for distance learners. See scholarship descriptions on this page for details.

Deadlines vary. However, to be eligible for most scholarships, students must be admitted to ISU no later than June 1 for the fall semester. If deadline has passed, students who qualify to compete for scholarships should submit the admission application as soon as possible. These applications will be considered based on available funds.

TRANSFER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. $1,500 per year (fall and spring semesters only)
  2. Renewable for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. 30 scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus and distance students

To be considered for the ISU Transfer Student Scholarship, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum of 32 transferable credits.

To apply: The application for admission serves as the scholarship application; no additional application is required.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. $4,000 per year (fall and spring semesters only)
  2. Renewable for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. Six scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus and distance students

Applicants for Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships must hold an associate of arts, associate of science, or an associate of applied science. Other requirements include a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and membership in Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

To apply for the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships, students must provide documentation of honor society membership and a letter of recommendation to be submitted with the admission application.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

ACADEMIC PROMISE SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. $2,000 per year (fall and spring semesters only)
  2. Renewable for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. One scholarship awarded to each campus each year
  4. Available for on-campus and distance students

Students completing an associate of arts, associate of science, or an associate of applied sciences at any Ivy Tech campus or at Vincennes University with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average are eligible for this scholarship.

To apply for the Academic Promise Scholarship, students must clearly indicate on the admission application the specific Ivy Tech campus attended.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

ILLINOIS STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. 125 percent of in-state tuition
  2. Renewable
  3. A limited number of Illinois Students Scholarships are awarded each year.
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

For consideration, candidates must reside in Illinois and have a minimum 40 earned credits (or three semesters of full-time enrollment) with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. $4,000 per year (fall and spring semesters only)
  2. Renewable for three additional years
  3. An unlimited number of Incentive Scholarships are awarded each year.
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

For consideration, candidates must reside outside Indiana and Illinois and have a minimum 40 earned credits (or three semesters of full-time enrollment) with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average.

LILLY FELLOW SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. $5,000 one-time-only award
  2. Recipients may apply for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year.
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

The Lilly Fellow Scholarships are designed for students seeking unique opportunities in experiential learning.

Lilly Fellows will be selected based upon their record of academic excellence and community leadership. A 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and at least 32 transferable credits are required to be considered for this scholarship.

In addition, scholarship applicants are asked to provide an essay describing their interest in being a Lilly Fellow, a letter of recommendation, and a resume detailing activities and experiences. Expectations of Lilly Fellows include working with a faculty mentor on research, community service, outreach activities, and participation in Lilly Fellow activities. The Lilly Fellow Scholarships are made possible by the Lilly Endowment Fund.

ISU LAPTOP AWARDS

  1. Lenovo laptop personal computer ($1,100 value)
  2. One-time award
  3. 40 scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

To be considered, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum of 40 transferable credits (or three full-time semesters).

To apply: The application for admission serves as the scholarship application; no additional application is required.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester. Priority is given to students admitted by March 1.

To keep the ISU Laptop Award, students must remain enrolled full-time both fall and spring semesters.

HOUSING AWARDS

  1. $1,024 towards the cost of a Pickerl Hall single or a Hines/Jones Hall double
  2. Renewable for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. 50 scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

To be considered, candidates must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 and a minimum of 40 transferable credits (or three full-time semesters).

To apply: The application for admission serves as the scholarship application. Students also must complete the separate application for on-campus housing.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

To renew the Housing Award, students must remain enrolled full-time, earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, and continue to reside on-campus.

TEXTBOOK AWARDS

  1. $250 each fall and spring semester applied to student account
  2. One-time award
  3. 50 scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus and distance students

To be considered, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 and a minimum of 40 transferable credits (or three full-time semesters).

To apply: The application for admission serves as the scholarship application; no additional application is required.

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

  1. $2,500 per year (fall and spring semesters only)
  2. One-time award
  3. 18 scholarships awarded each year
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

To be considered, candidates must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and a minimum of 30 transferrable credits.

To apply: The application for admission serves as the scholarship application. Candidates must also submit a paragraph describing their past community service, and their interest in continuing their volunteerism while at Indiana State University. Submissions should be sent via email to scholarships@indstate.edu

Deadlines: To be eligible, students must be admitted to ISU by June 1 for fall semester.

To retain the Community Service Award, students must commit to serving 75 hours each fall and spring semester with one of the approved Terre Haute agencies.

NOYCE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SECONDARY MATH AND SCIENCE EDUCATION

  1. $10,000 maximum per year (additional $2,000 award available based on academic need)
  2. Renewable for one additional year (two semesters)
  3. A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year.
  4. Available for on-campus students; not available for distance-only students

Recipients of the Noyce Scholarship for Secondary Math and Science Education are required to teach mathematics or science in high need urban school corporations following graduation. Students who receive the Noyce Scholarship must also participate in co-curricular activities and training in problem-based learning.

To be eligible for the Noyce Scholarship, transfer students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all science and mathematics course work.

Applications should include a signed urban teaching commitment form (agreeing to teach in an urban area) and a scholarship application checklist.
